Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach English language service courses (e.g., Academic English, EAP, ESP, Communication Skills) to undergraduate students from a range of academic disciplines.
- Support students’ development of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and academic study skills appropriate to university-level learning.
- Apply sound TESOL / ESL / EFL pedagogical approaches suitable for higher education learners.
- Contribute to the design, review, and continuous improvement of skill-oriented English language courses, ensuring alignment with program learning outcomes and institutional benchmarks.
- Prepare and update course syllabi, instructional materials, assessments, and learning resources in line with best practices.
- Employ educational technologies and digital platforms to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
- Provide constructive feedback and academic support to students, with particular sensitivity to bilingual and multilingual learners.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum review processes, and quality assurance activities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and remain current with developments in English language teaching and applied linguistics.
- Contribute positively to the collegial and academic environment of the College and the University.
Qualifications and Experience
- Native proficiency in English (Anglophone).
- A Master’s degree (MA) in English Language, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 5–10 years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably in university-level ESL/EFL contexts.
- Demonstrated experience teaching English to non-English‑major students enrolled in academic or professional programs.
- A recognized TESOL certification or equivalent professional teaching qualification.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, course review, and assessment design for skill-based English language courses.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching bilingual or multilingual students, particularly those from Arabic-speaking backgrounds.
- Familiarity with CEFR-aligned curricula and outcomes‑based assessment.
- Prior experience in international or Gulf‑region higher education institutions.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to culturally diverse learning environments.
- Evidence of sustained engagement in professional development related to English language teaching.
