Role

As an Internal Auditor‑IT you are expected to be responsible for analyzing and assessing the University of Sharjah’s Information Technology infrastructure to ensure processes and systems run accurately and efficiently while remaining secure and meeting compliance regulations. As well as to identify any IT issues that fall under the audit, specifically those related to security and risk management.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review and understand all relevant policies and procedures in order to be able to carry out daily work tasks as expected, and answer all stakeholder inquiries, clarifications, or any assistance related to Compliance and Internal Audit Office accurately and efficiently.
  • Plan the information technology audit process, determine the scope of work, preparing the necessary audit activities and risk assessments for the concerned departments.
  • Ensure consistent application of University By‑Laws, policies, procedures, and statutory regulations. As well as handle the technological innovation process for IT services by creating a risk profile for current and future projects with a focus on the university’s experience with those technologies and where it stands in the market.
  • Examine the current technologies in the university and future planned technologies that will need to be adopted, and evaluate whether the technologies, systems and applications are controlled, reliable, efficient, secure and effective.
  • Help verify that the technological systems that are being used and/or developed are suited for the university and meet development standards.
  • Prepare the required reports and analysis after each auditing activity related to information technology, and make the necessary recommendations related to the development of these operational processes.
  • Follow‑up with the relevant colleges/departments to ensure the proper implementation of any recommended solutions related to information technology and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Assist in implementing the IT quality assurance standards in the Compliance and Internal Audit Office and ensure the application of professional standards and best practices.
  • Review and audit all contracts related to the Information Technology Center, as well as submit recommendations when needed and report any matters of concern in order to take action.
  • Work on building professional and positive relationships with the concerned colleges/departments in order to help create an efficient and effective auditing process.
  • Remain abreast with latest local, regional, and global IT‑related updates in order to help provide the University with updated trends and ideas, and help evaluate and update IT services.
  • Assist in reviewing IT policies and procedures, as well as contribute to the preparation of related auditing activities in order to help develop and improve them as well as create a more efficient and effective system.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external colleagues in order to complete work tasks, answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions accurately to ensure that job tasks are carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. As well as assist new employees in understanding the Compliance and Internal Audit Office’s operating procedures.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, MIS, Finance, Accounting or a relevant discipline.
  • 6-8 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Professional certificates such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of related processes, best practices, compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • A good understanding of IT security and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of security testing and auditing and security risk management.
  • Excellent writing, editing and documenting skills.
  • Ability to build and manage positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Works as a competent member of the team, willingly providing backup support for co‑workers when appropriate and actively supporting group goals.
