Job description
HSE Officer

Zahr Freighters is seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to join our team in Dubai. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors by implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain all HSE documentation and procedures, including the HSEMS system on-site.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Initiate and organize HSE training and Toolbox Talks (TBTs) for pilots, employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Perform safety walkabouts in the depot to prevent unsafe acts and conditions, reporting any anomalies.
  • Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, and propose corrective actions.
  • Inspect personnel activities to identify issues or non-conformities, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Establish and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct spot checks on pilots to ensure adherence to SOPs.
  • Perform site safety visits to ensure the safe delivery of products to clients.
  • Participate in Emergency Response (ER) drills and act as an emergency responder during actual emergencies.
  • Verify that tools and equipment are safe and adequate for use.
  • Review the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
  • Approve safety plans submitted by subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the registration and disposal of hazardous waste via the Dubai Municipality portal.
  • Identify training needs for pilots and employees and communicate them to the HSE Manager.
  • Ensure proper traffic and asset management within the depot.
  • Conduct routine checks on fire systems, spill kits, and other safety equipment both in the depot and on trucks.
  • Inspect tools, ladders, and other safety-critical equipment regularly.
  • Perform random alco-blow checks on pilots and report any issues.
  • Handle additional HSE-related tasks or projects as assigned by the HSE Manager.
Skills/Competencies Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE-related role with a focus on site health and safety duties.
  • Proficiency in HSEMS documentation and compliance assessments.
  • Knowledge of site operation health and safety, fire safety, and first aid.
  • NEBOSH/IGC qualifications or equivalent certification in HSE management.
  • Experience in auditing and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
