Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced HSE Engineer for a major oil & gas project. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with ADNOC’s HSE requirements and possess in-depth knowledge of safety regulations, systems, and best practices in the energy sector. Responsibilities include leading HSE teams, conducting audits, and implementing safety procedures. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, NEBOSH certification and 8-10 years of relevant industry experience.

Job description

We are looking to engage an experienced HSE Engineer on a major oil & gas project. The successful candidate must fully comply with ADNOCs HSE requirements and bring in-depth knowledge of safety regulations systems and best practices within the energy sector.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC and project-specific HSE policies procedures and legal requirements.
  • Lead and supervise HSE teams including Safety Officers and Hygiene Officers on-site.
  • Conduct HSE audits inspections risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Develop and implement HSE procedures emergency response plans and welfare programs.
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions on safety procedures and standards relevant to the Scope of Work (SOW).
  • Monitor implementation of PTW WMS and risk assessment systems (SSOW).
  • Ensure effective H2S hazard identification and control measures.
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation reporting and tracking for continuous improvement.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through behavioral safety initiatives.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in relevant Science or HSE discipline (from a recognized institution).
  • NEBOSH IGC or Equivalent (Subject to ADNOC approval)(Preferred)
  • Lead Auditor in ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 (or equivalent)
  • Incident Investigation Techniques
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas petrochemical or EPC industries.
  • Experience should cover construction fabrication installation commissioning and operations phases.
  • Deep understanding of HSE issues legislation and behavioral safety in the oil & gas EPC domain.
  • Capable of managing a multidisciplinary HSE team.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing HSE management systems.
  • Strong command over emergency planning site-specific safety plans and welfare initiatives.
  • Skilled in implementing and managing PTW WMS risk assessments and SSOW.
  • Experience in conducting training and awareness programs.
  • Ability to investigate incidents and determine root causes.
  • Proficient in conducting HSE inspections audits and applying H2S control measures.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels.
