Job summary

A global hospitality leader in Dubai is seeking an experienced EHS leader to develop and manage the Environmental Health & Safety Management System (EHSMS). You will oversee compliance with UAE laws, conduct risk assessments, and promote a proactive safety culture across properties. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Science, NEBOSH certification, and a strong background in managing EHS in hospitality. This role offers full-time employment with no remote work options.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in a Health & Safety or EHS leadership role.
  • Proven track record managing EHS in hospitality or similar multisite operations.
  • Familiarity with UAE legal requirements and enforcement authorities.

Job description
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & System Oversight
  • Develop implement and continuously improve the Environmental Health & Safety Management System (EHSMS) across both properties.
  • Ensure alignment with UAE laws Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense regulations and international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Plan and lead internal audits compliance assessments and management reviews.
Risk & Compliance Management
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain an uptodate risk register.
  • Lead investigations of incidents accidents and near misses; ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Manage contractor safety protocols permits to work (PTW) and chemical safety (MSDS documentation).
  • Enforce PPE usage and compliance with established health and safety policies.
Training & Safety Culture
  • Deliver comprehensive safety training programs including staff inductions emergency drills first aid and hazard identification.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns and engagement of departmental safety champions.
  • Support food safety training initiatives in compliance with HACCP and Dubai Municipality guidelines.
Operational Compliance
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits in highrisk operational areas including kitchens engineering housekeeping and recreational facilities.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety standards for water quality air quality pool safety and pest control.
  • Validate best practices for food receiving storage and handling in accordance with HACCP protocols.
Reporting & Governance
  • Prepare and present monthly reports on EHS performance including KPIs training records audit findings and incident trends.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation in compliance with ISO standards and local legal requirements.
  • Contribute to ESG and sustainability reporting initiatives.
Environmental Responsibility
  • Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through efficient use of energy water and waste management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate sustainability goals.
  • Support and maintain green building or sustainability certifications.
People Management
  • Coordinate and engage crossdepartmental safety representatives and safety committee meetings to ensure alignment and communication.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR)
  • Number of internal and external audits completed and findings resolved
  • Civil Defense / Dubai Municipality compliance score
  • Percentage completion of mandatory EHS training programs
  • Reduction metrics for energy water and waste consumption
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Environmental Science or related field
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent (mandatory)
  • HACCP Level 4 (mandatory for food safety oversight)
  • ISO 14001 / 45001 Lead Auditor certifications (preferred)
  • Minimum 57 years of experience in a Health & Safety or EHS leadership role
  • Proven track record managing EHS in hospitality or similar multisite operations
  • Familiarity with UAE legal requirements and enforcement authorities
