JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for an Engineering Lead to join its UAE Business Unit, focusing on execution of the engineering portion of a multi‑discipline scope of work for a major onshore brownfield project in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full‑time, office‑based role on a 5/2 work schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive technical assurance on assigned scopes of work.
  • Manage, support, and supervise the discipline engineering teams.
  • Coordinate engineering and startup activities while meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget performance goals.
  • Contribute to delivery of engineering excellence across all disciplines.
  • Develop and retain motivated, competent people; train and mentor engineering teams.
  • Act as process owner, ensuring compliance with corporate and client procedures.
  • Drive safety by design and lead opportunities for innovation.
  • Participate directly in design, development, and inspection of technical projects.
  • Report to the Project Director.
Key Objectives
  • Driving technical assurance: continuous promotion of corporate/client procedures, incident investigation support, compliance monitoring, and risk mitigation.
  • Managing and supervising the multidisciplinary engineering team: planning, recruitment, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Managing key stakeholders: preparing engineering content for execution plans, directing project activities, negotiating with clients, reviewing technical concepts, and resolving complex technical problems.
  • Process ownership: developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures aligned with business and corporate objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Typically requires 15+ years progressive experience in discipline engineering.
  • Held a position of Engineering Lead or Manager for at least 3 years.
  • Balance of technical and managerial/mentoring experience at the relevant level.
  • Several years of supervisory experience with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation, and health & safety.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories and techniques.
  • Capable of representing business and client-to-business associates professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Skilled in forecasting people resources and recruitment/selection processes.
  • Able to implement and embed standards and processes to deliver engineering excellence.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Current knowledge of industry and technology developments in area of expertise.
  • Expertise in engineering excellence.
