Job description

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer (Substation) for one of our clients with the following details:

Location: Onshore, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: Direct hire

Qualification and Experience Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience post-graduation, with at least 8 years of experience as an electrical engineer in HV substation/Cable projects, and expertise in dealing with power utilities (preferably in the UAE or GCC).
• Experience with TAQA Transmission or equivalent in the region is highly desirable.
• Strong track record in basic design and design review.
• Ability to conduct and manage meetings efficiently.
• Fluent in English - reading, writing, and speaking.
• Adequate knowledge of international standards and TAQA specifications.
• Proficiency in MS-Office & AutoCAD

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of conceptual design for greenfield/brownfield substation/cable project after verifying feasibility, develop detailed scope of works, bill of quantities, tender documents.
• Assist during tendering for preparation of pre-tender clarifications, post-tender clarifications, technical bid evaluation, priced bid evaluation, contract documents.
• Conduct Design review of Electrical design documents, calculations, drawings, schematics, test procedures, method statements, test reports, etc. ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and regulations.
• Participate in design meetings and Technical Coordination Meetings to discuss and resolve project design issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with higher officers and clients regarding design progress, deviations, and interface points.
• Provide technical support and assistance to the client's teams, and assist in any interface requirements with the Office.
• Prepare, maintain, and review documentation for all electrical designs and modifications, including contractor's design documents and procedures.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and technology.
