Position
Join our turbine development department within our gas turbine business in Baden (AG) and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products.
- Develop cooling systems for turbine parts (blades, vanes, heat shields)
- Prepare 3D thermal state analyses and analyses of the coolant consumption of cooled turbine parts
- Specify laboratory or real engine tests for design and/or methods validation
- Interface and iterate with secondary flow and mechanical teams to optimize part lifetime and gas turbine performance
- Devise tests and specifications for ensuring manufacturing quality
- Support the fleet for cooling systems for turbine parts
- Develop cooling methods, processes and tools (e.g. film correlations for boundary layer film cooling modeling)
- Participate in reviews, technical decisions on cooling design layouts and expert groups
- Issue cooling design, technology and validation reports as well as cold flow specifications
- Ensure an adequate turbine parts cooling system quality within the manufacturing test and inspection plan
- Provide technical dispositions for manufacturing non-conformance reports
Requirements
Your profile
- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Relevant knowledge in cooling and heat transfer, thermodynamics or fluid mechanics
- Familiarity with measurement techniques and laboratory instrumentation on heat transfer advantageous
- Basic understanding of gas turbine technology, design and production development of turbine parts, component/engine testing, technology development, seals and secondary air flow, failure analysis, manufacturing technology as well as operation of thermal engines
- Industrial or research experience of at least 3 years
- Flexible team player with an open mind and good communication skills
- Target-oriented, quick and efficient individual with the ability to recognize and assume responsibility
- Good technical, intellectual and analytical skills
- Initiative, adaptability and intercultural competence
- Availability to travel 15% of the time, worldwide
- Excellent command of English, German is an advantage, further knowledge of Italian would be an asset
