Job description

The Role We are currently hiring an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the finance and accounting function for our client operating in a fast-paced FMCG environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations, and managing receivables and payables efficiently in a high-volume business setting. Key Responsibilities :

• Oversee and manage daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timely entry of all financial transactions.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial statements and management reports by the 7th of each month.
• Safeguard company assets, including inventory, fixed assets, and cash, through proper documentation and internal controls.
• Review and maintain adequate insurance coverage for all assets across the business.
• Manage accounts receivable, closely coordinating with the Sales team to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
• Generate weekly receivables reports with detailed ageing analysis and proactively follow up on bounced cheques and overdue accounts.
• Supervise accounts payable to ensure timely settlement of obligations to suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
• Ensure full compliance with VAT, tax laws, and other local statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate external and internal audits by maintaining complete and accurate financial records.
• Lead cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiency across departments.
• Oversee administrative support functions to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
• Enforce compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Build and lead a capable finance team, fostering continuous development and high performance.
• Act as a strategic financial partner to senior management and represent the interests of company ownership with integrity and transparency. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred).

• Proven experience within the FMCG industry is strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting frameworks, and regulatory compliance.

• Proficient in the use of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or equivalent).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
