Job summary

A healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Safety Officer to manage fire hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role includes conducting fire drills, managing safety programs, and responding to alarms. A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health is required. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing OSH policies and procedures. This is a full-time position with a focus on maintaining a safe environment for staff and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

Responsibilities

  • Identifies safety and fire hazards and makes recommendations.
  • Conducts fire drills and participates in fire prevention programs.
  • Responds to fire alarms and coordinates with fire department.
  • Writes incident and accident reports.
  • Assures safety coverage by overseeing in-house security personnel.
  • Plans and conducts safety and fire prevention programs.

Identifies potential safety and fire hazards and takes action or makes recommendations to eliminate hazard.

Assures fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarms, sprinkler system and fire hydrants are in operating condition; conducts fire drills and participates in fire prevention programs.

Conducts and participates in employee safety and accident prevention programs.

Responds to all fire alarms; determines whether a fire exists; attempts to extinguish fire and contacts fire department.

Writes incident and accident reports and maintains a record of activities related to fire and safety.

Performs related work as assigned.

Additional Job Duties
  • Assures safety coverage for assigned shift by scheduling assignments and overseeing the work of in‑house security personnel.
  • Plans, develops, and conducts employee safety, fire prevention, and accident prevention programs.

Regularly performs safety and security activities recognized as the most complex and difficult.

Actively participate in JCI accreditation project.

Ensures compliance with DOH, FANR, OSHMS, JCI and other regulatory requirements.

Demonstration of and adherence to the standards of OSHMS pertinent to employee health and safety.

OSHMS activities:

Assist and support management in consultation and implementation of the OSHMS and OSH improvements for the area of representation.

OSH Roles and Responsibilities
  • Providing advice on the implementation of OSH policy and procedures.
  • Raising OSH matters and issues to management on behalf of employees.
  • Communication and awareness raising of OSH requirements.
  • Assisting with conducting OSH inspections of the workplace.
  • Assisting with the investigation of OSH issues or incidents.
  • Attending OSH committee meetings.
