GEMS Education is seeking an outstanding Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching and Learning Coach to join one of our high‑performing Primary schools in Dubai. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced and motivated practitioner who is passionate about raising standards, developing others, and driving excellence in teaching and learning across the school.

We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative leader who is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for students and supporting teachers to continually refine and elevate their practice.

Job Purpose

To lead and enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the Primary phase, working closely with school leadership to secure consistently high standards and ongoing school improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and School Improvement
  • Support the Principal and Senior Leadership Team with strategic school development.
  • Champion a culture of high expectations, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to whole‑school evaluation, planning, and quality assurance processes.
Teaching and Learning Development
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve teaching and learning across the Primary school.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and tailored professional development for teachers.
  • Model outstanding practice and deliver demonstration lessons, team teaching, and lesson modelling.
  • Review planning, teaching methods, and assessment approaches to ensure inclusive and effective provision for all learners, including SEN, ELL, and Gifted and Talented students.
  • Lead on observation cycles, learning walks, planning reviews, and work scrutiny.
  • Ensure curriculum policies, schemes of work, and assessment frameworks are applied consistently.
  • Work closely with phase and subject leaders to ensure continuity and progression across year groups.
  • Support new and supply staff in understanding school policies, expectations, and systems.
Professional Development
  • Design and lead CPD sessions aligned to school priorities and research‑based practice.
  • Attend external training and share key developments with staff.
  • Support the coordination of staff development for both teaching and non‑teaching colleagues.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Assessment
  • Use assessment data and school indicators to analyse performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide constructive, developmental feedback to strengthen teaching practice and student outcomes.
Behaviour, Culture & Community
  • Promote a positive learning culture grounded in respect and high expectations.
  • Build effective relationships with parents and support home‑school communication.
  • Lead parent information sessions and contribute to school events.
  • Support initiatives related to innovation, technology, and enrichment.
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage allocated budget areas responsibly.
  • Organise and monitor resources linked to teaching and learning priorities.
  • Ensure effective communication within and across teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Dispositions
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and current pedagogical research.
  • Proven ability to improve teaching quality and student outcomes.
  • Excellent coaching and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and support others.
