Role Purpose
To provide high-quality teaching, lead innovative research, and contribute to academic leadership within the university. Inspire and mentor students, support curriculum development, and actively participate in university service, committees, and community engagement to advance institutional goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in History or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
- Master’s Degree in the relevant field.
- Strong commitment to academic integrity, innovation in teaching, and student mentoring.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development, such as certifications or advanced training, is highly desirable.
- Arabic speakers OR Anglophones.
Experience
- At least 5+ years of full‑time teaching and research experience at university level.
- Proven record of at least 3-5 published research, successful grant applications, and student supervision is required.
- Experience in supervising postgraduate students is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in History, with a focus on areas such as World History, Middle Eastern History, or specialized thematic fields.
- Prepare comprehensive course materials and assessments for students.
- Supervise student projects and theses attentively and supportively.
- Provide academic advice and support to students regularly and professionally.
Research
- Conduct original research in the relevant academic field consistently and innovatively.
- Publish research in reputable journals and conferences widely and frequently.
- Apply for research funding and grants proactively and strategically.
- Collaborate with local and international research partners actively and constructively.
Academic Leadership
- Lead curriculum development & course improvement initiatives collaboratively & effectively.
- Mentor junior faculty and teaching staff regularly and supportively.
- Chair or participate in academic committees actively and responsibly.
- Promote academic standards and best practices consistently and transparently.
Community Engagement
- Organize and participate in university outreach programs frequently and enthusiastically.
- Represent the university at academic events confidently and professionally.
- Share expertise with industry and community partners openly and constructively.
- Support student and alumni engagement activities actively and positively.
Administration
- Maintain accurate student records and grades securely and systematically.
- Prepare reports for department and university promptly and accurately.
- Assist in student admissions and assessment processes efficiently and fairly.
- Contribute to departmental planning and policy development thoughtfully and collaboratively.
Professional Development & Mentoring
- Stay updated with new research, teaching methods, and academic trends in the field.
- Participate in professional development workshops, seminars, or conferences regularly.
- Mentor junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students in their academic growth.
- Encourage a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the department.
Other Duties
- Undertake additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management.
