Job summary

A major oil and gas company is seeking a Control System Analyst to monitor and troubleshoot control systems, ensuring high performance and integrity. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electronics, 6+ years of experience in process automation, and knowledge of various PLC and DCS systems. The role involves training end users and coordinating maintenance to enhance system functionality. This position is based in Abu Dhabi with a focus on Emiratization efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in electronics, computer information systems, engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in process automation and controls in Oil and Gas sector.
  • Experience with Honeywell, EMERSON DCS, Rockwell, B&R and Siemens PLC systems.

Job description
JOB PURPOSE

To monitor and system error troubleshooting, Making sure the integrity and performance of the control systems at the plant and terminals at the high level of readiness. Furthermore, coordinate and liaise with maintenance disciplines to enhance the systems based on performance and the operation requirements to ensure satisfaction and business continuity. The responsibility of the control system analyst covers the facilities at ADNOC Distribution Fuel Storage Terminals & Depots, LPG plants, Fleet, military depots , Aviation , plant equipment & asset, Service stations, and Depos in all regions in United Arab emirates including (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, DAF and NE) that includes 12 depots & plants , and more than 540 service stations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maintains the availability of plant automation systems on multiple platforms, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) through running regular checks and periodic monitoring to always maintain the plant availability and readiness.
  • Decipher process requirements through regular meetings and analyse complex systems development or modification or enhancement issues and ensure to communicate to relevant stakeholders to take appropriate action in time.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional associations on a regular basis to guarantee top of the line servicing and monitoring.
  • Participate along with vendors and other team members in troubleshoot / diagnose, modify, and repair automation and network hardware, software, and communications problems, and prepare upgrade / replacement plans
  • Develops and maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation, monitoring reports, logs, and files. Further consolidates project documentation and software for future reference.
  • Schedule visits at least once a week to prepare system / network performance and end user requirements reports to team leader to take appropriate actions when need arise.
  • Analyse any threats related to Cybersecurity and Safety system implementation gaps and provide gaping report. Knowledge Transfer
  • Train end users to make effective use of process automation systems and responds to work orders, inquiries, and requests from other departments on process automation and controls, plant information and peripheral equipment's.
  • Support to develop training programs to ensure users understand functionality of the systems and have ability to run it through easy to grasp and straightforward training program.
  • Meet with end user and communicate on a regular basis to get feedback of the systems and ensure they requirements are translated into realistic steps of enhancing their experience.
  • Provide the support in terms of training for the UAE nationals as part of Emiratization process. Maintenance
  • Coordinate and participate in maintaining and enhancing process automation and network functionality as per requirements and feedback aiming to reflect that in enhancing the systems.
  • Assist as per need with the maintenance of network communications and network cable repairs and configuration problems.
  • Prepare spare part, backups and systems upgrade plans as required and ensure proper installation and activation per requirements.
  • Supports Maintenance in the up keeping of the Auxiliary automation systems related to Tank Gauging, Air compressor, Cathodic protection, Flow Metering and Fire Alarms panels Propose, develop and implement management of change when required (MOC).Generic Accountabilities Supervision
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives. Budgets
  • Provide input for preparation of the Department / Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control. Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures to support execution of the Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards.
  • Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations. Performance Management
  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Participate in Emergency Response duties as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer information systems, engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 6 years of experience in implementation, support and maintenance of process automation and controls in Oil and Gas sector preferable within both mid-stream and downstream.
  • Experience in working with one or more of the Honeywell and EMERSON DCS, Rockwell, B&R and Siemens PLC systems.
