Position Summary

The AGL Inspector is responsible for inspecting above-ground structures within airport boundaries, ensuring compliance with ICAO Annex 14, local aviation regulations, and airport obstacle limitation standards. They measure and verify heights, identify obstacles or non-compliances, and ensure proper marking, lighting, and visibility of structures. The role includes preparing detailed inspection reports, coordinating with airport operations, ATC, and engineering teams, and enforcing safety protocols in airside and restricted areas.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities
  • Inspect above-ground structures within airport boundaries (lighting poles, antennas, buildings, signage, cranes, equipment, temporary works).
  • Measure and verify heights relative to AGL, AMSL, and airport datum.
  • Identify obstacles, penetrations, or non-compliances.
  • Prepare formal inspection reports with measurements, photos, and coordinates.
  • Verify marking, lighting, and visibility of obstacles.
  • Coordinate with: Airport operations, ATC (when required), Engineering & safety teams.
  • Monitor temporary obstacles (cranes, construction equipment).
  • Enforce safety rules inside airside / restricted zones.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Aviation, Surveying, or Construction.
  • Experience in airport inspections, airside operations, or obstacle control.
  • Ability to interpret aeronautical charts, drawings, and survey data.
  • Certified or eligible for airside access.
  • Comfortable working under strict aviation safety protocols.
  • Prior Airport Experience shall be preferred.
  • Ensure compliance with CAO Annex 14.
  • Ensure compliance with Local Civil Aviation Authority regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Airport OLS / PANS-OPS requirements.
