Job description

Job Description – Accountant:

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant to support our Finance Department in managing the day-to-day financial operations across multiple retail outlets. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling accounts, and ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, under the supervision of the Finance Manager. This is an individual contributor role with no team management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Daily Accounting Operations

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in reconciling bank accounts, vendor accounts, and intercompany transactions.

2. Sales Reconciliation

  • Reconcile daily sales data received from all retail stores.
  • Match store-wise sales reports with system entries and POS reports.
  • Verify and tally cash, card, and e-commerce sales collections against reported figures.
  • Follow up with store teams for any discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure all sales are properly recorded in the accounting system.

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor and update customer receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Handle petty cash reimbursements and verify store-level expenses.

4. Inventory Coordination

  • Coordinate with store staff to reconcile stock and review inventory movements.
  • Support month-end and year-end inventory reporting.
  • Assist in identifying variances such as shrinkage or damage.

5. VAT & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain proper documentation for UAE VAT filing.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns to the Federal Tax Authority.
  • Ensure all financial transactions comply with UAE tax and legal requirements.

6. Payroll Assistance

  • Support monthly payroll processing, OT calculation, etc.
  • Post payroll entries and reconcile related accounts (gratuity, leave, etc.).

7. Financial Reporting Support

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports.
  • Support the Finance Manager with financial analysis and budget tracking.
  • Help in gathering information required for internal and external audits.

8. Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain orderly and complete accounting records and filing systems.
  • Use accounting/ERP software (e.g., Tally, Microsoft Dynamics) for daily entries.

Skills

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in Retail or Trading or FMCG Company in UAE.
  • Knowledge of UAE VAT and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • Strong Excel and reconciliation skills; working experience with Financial Reporting.
  • Good communication and organizational abilities.
