Job description

The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing logistics solutions, managing internal & external stakeholder expectations throughout the solution design and implementation phases. The role supports company objectives, driving value-adding and robust solutions, with a focus on:

  • Identifying and analysing value-adding solutions for customers
  • Supporting company objectives of change management across multiple streams
  • Scoping, analysing, and implementing strategic business objectives and projects
  • Supporting Lean Six Sigma goals by identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborating with operations teams and senior management for successful project implementation
  • Optimizing warehouse and transport planning

Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification(s): B-Eng/BSc Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Computer Literacy Level:
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook: Advanced
  • Additional Computer Skills (beneficial):
  • Microsoft Access, SQL, Microsoft Visio, SharePoint, Power Apps, ERP Systems, TMS (Transport Management Systems), PYTHON

Other Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant logistics & supply chain management experience or related industry experience
  • Supply Chain Optimization, Planning & Design
  • Business Analysis Skills & Experience
  • Lean Six Sigma direct experience (5 years)
  • Development of BRS & SRS
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Ability to multi-task & employ effective problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented & analytical
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Change Management skills & experience
  • Unendorsed license & own transport
  • Ability to travel around Gauteng, South Africa

JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS

  • Industrial Engineering experience: >5 years in logistics or related industry
  • Lean Six Sigma: >5 years in logistics (beneficial)
  • Leadership in business or operations: >3 years with staff performance management
  • ERP/WMS Systems Skills: >2 years operational (development advantageous)
  • TMS Systems: >3 years (advantageous)
  • Supply Chain Optimization: >5 years in warehouse or route planning (beneficial)
  • Business Analysis: >5 years essential
  • Change Management: >3 years essential

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engineered Solutions: Identify and develop value-adding solutions for clients
  • Operations Support: Collaborate with Operations & Management to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Analysis and Recommendations:
  • Data comparison and analysis
  • Process optimization
  • Facilities and warehousing best practices
  • Business Cases/Feasibility Studies: Develop ROI-driven cases for productivity improvements
  • Continuous Improvement Management: Manage and report on cost-saving and Sigma initiatives
  • Change Management: Lead the business through the S-Curve, ensuring smooth transitions
  • Business Analysis: Define business requirements and translate them into IT-specific communications
  • SIGMA: Identify and implement Lean Six Sigma initiatives
  • Group Facilitation: Lead and influence diverse teams during planning or problem-solving activities
  • Travel: Local travel required to support business objectives
