Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end bank systems—from cloud infrastructure to data platforms—with an AI-native team. You will work with senior leadership to launch deposit products, drive loan originations, and enable card issuing.

This is a rare chance to shape a new business inside Affirm, with speed and ownership of an early-stage team, while leveraging Affirm’s brand and scale.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with end-to-end ownership through launch and operations.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and move fast while maintaining engineering judgment.
• Bias toward simplicity in a lean engineering culture with high standards.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: cloud infra, data platform, and orchestration.
• Set engineering standards, improve reviews, and mentor teammates.
• Ship AI-first capabilities and leverage AI tools to boost productivity.
• Own vendor relationships, integration, operations, and audits.
• Document decisions and runbooks to withstand examiner and audit reviews.
• Maintain reliable, observable, and audit-ready systems.
