Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the AI-native banking team building core bank systems, data platform, and operational tooling. You will own end-to-end bank surface areas—cloud infra, workflows, CI/CD, and bank integrations—and drive reliability, compliance, and scalable growth.

You will mentor peers, influence architectural decisions, and ship with speed on a small, autonomous team in a remote-first setup across the USA.

Qualifications

• Six+ years of software engineering experience with end-to-end ownership.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive outcomes in a small team.
• Strong written and verbal communication for executives and non-engineers.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and toolchains.
• Systems thinking across cloud infrastructure and data platforms.
• Comfortable representing engineering to compliance, risk and audit.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate and incident-response.
• Set and improve code review standards and developer documentation.
• Ship AI-first capabilities and leverage agentic workflows.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party integrations.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit.
• Maintain operational posture with monitoring, runbooks, and reliability.
• Communicate strategy and tradeoffs to executives and non-engineers.
• Mentor and grow junior engineers as the team scales.
