Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end bank systems, from cloud infra to data platforms and compliance tooling. You’ll be part of a small, AI-native team shaping the first deposit product, loan originations, and card issuing with direct exposure to leadership.

You’ll leverage AI tools to raise code quality, velocity, and operational readiness while managing vendor relationships and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership through launch.
• Comfortable in ambiguity and fast decision making.
• Bias toward simplicity in lean engineering culture.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex).
• Strong systems thinking across AWS, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and cloud data platforms (Snowflake).
• Regulated-environment experience is preferred, with examiner-facing documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end including cloud infrastructure, data platform, durable workflows, CI/CD, and core banking configuration.
• Improve code review standards, documentation, and team effectiveness on a small team.
• Ship AI-first features using agentic workflows to improve quality and velocity.
• Own vendor relationships end-to-end, including integration, operations, and audits.
• Create runbooks and decisions that stand up to examiner and audit review.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and an audit-ready operational posture.
