Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join a small, AI-native team. You will own bank systems end-to-end, including cloud infrastructure, data platform, and durable workflows, while coordinating with Legal, Compliance, and Risk to ensure audit-ready design.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with ownership end-to-end through launch and operations.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and balance speed with engineering judgment.
• Experience in small, lean engineering cultures with high standards.
• Fluent with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate, and incident response for core surfaces.
• Set and improve code review and design standards; raise examiner-readable documentation.
• Ship AI-first features and workflows as multipliers for code quality and velocity.
• Own vendor relationships: integration, operations, escalation, audit.
• Build for examiners: document decisions, designs, runbooks for audits.
• Own the operational posture: monitoring, runbooks, and audit-ready practices.
• Influence non-engineering stakeholders with clear technical strategy and tradeoffs.
• Grow talent by mentoring peers and leading by example.
