Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Senior Inpatient Facility Certified Medical Coder for a fully remote role. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services, assess DRG impact, and maintain coding accuracy while adhering to official guidelines.

Training will be provided for four weeks from home. Qualifications include AHIMA/AAPC certification and 3+ years inpatient acute care coding, with experience in Level 2+ trauma centers and DRG coding.

Qualifications

• AHIMA/AAPC certification must be maintained annually.
• 3+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience.
• 2+ years in a Level 2+ trauma center and/or teaching hospital with complex procedures.
• 2+ years of ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and DRG impact.
• Abstract data elements during chart review as needed.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AHIMA and/or AAPC guidelines.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per Optum360 standards.
• Provide documentation feedback and query physicians when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager materials and leadership.
• Participate in coding department meetings and trainings.
• Review and maintain chart coding records.
