Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder for a fully remote position. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and contribute to DRG accuracy, while adhering to coding guidelines and client requirements.

The role offers 4 weeks of training and telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC certification and 3+ years of acute care inpatient coding, with experience in Level 2+ trauma centers preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
• 3+ years of acute care inpatient medical coding experience.
• 2+ years in Level 2+ trauma center or teaching hospital with complex procedures.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 CM/PCS and DRG coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and DRG impact.
• Abstract additional data during chart review when coding.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per guidelines.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in department meetings.
