Job summary

UnitedHealthcare in United States is seeking a Senior Inpatient Facility Certified Medical Coder to deliver accurate ICD-10 CM/PCS coding for hospital inpatient services. This remote role requires strong organization, self-motivation, and familiarity with coding guidelines and DRG impacts.

Training is provided and prior success in telework is preferred. The position emphasizes adherence to AHIMA/AAPC standards, collaboration with providers, and ongoing professional development in coding

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
• Professional coder certification with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC to be maintained annually.
• 3+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience.
• 2+ years in Level 2+ trauma center and/or teaching hospital coding.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 (CM/PCS) and DRG coding experience.
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements including drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and DRG impact.
• Abstract additional data elements during Chart Review as needed.
• Adhere to established coding guidelines and client requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in meetings and education events.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Review and maintain records of coded charts and missing items.
