UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Inpatient Facility Certified Medical Coder for a remote role. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and evaluate their impact on DRGs, while adhering to official coding guidelines and client-specific policies.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of acute care inpatient coding, AHIMA/AAPC credentials, and experience with Level 2+ trauma centers. Training is provided and telecommuting is available nationwide in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• AHIMA and/or AAPC professional coder certification (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P CPC OR CPC-H) renewed annually.
• 3+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience in hospital/facility settings.
• 2+ years coding in Level 2+ trauma centers or teaching hospitals with complex procedures.
• 2+ years ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding experience.
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements including drug screen and background check.

Responsabilités

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and their DRG impact per guidelines.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
• Maintain ethical coding standards per AHIMA/APAC and client guidelines.
• Meet coding quality and productivity thresholds as defined by Optum360.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay current with coding knowledge through QM Manager and Coding leadership updates.
• Attend coding department meetings and educational events.
• Maintain records of charts coded, held, or missing.
