Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist to join our 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. The role focuses on inpatient coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology service lines, using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS in an EMR/CAC environment.

The ideal candidate holds an AAPC or AHIMA coding certification, an associate degree in Health Information Management, and 7 years of inpatient coding in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care setting.
• Certification issued by AAPC or AHIMA is required.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Maintain high quality and productivity standards (95% quality, 100% productivity).
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to ensure accurate DRG reconciliation.
• Research coding topics and participate in payer audits as needed.
• Communicate with clinicians to ensure accurate coding and documentation.
