Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder for the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Coding Production Operations. This full-time role focuses on inpatient coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology service lines, using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Qualifications include AHIMA or AAPC certification, an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, and 7+ years of inpatient coding in acute care.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• 7+ years inpatient coding experience in acute care setting with revenue cycle exposure.
• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.
• Proficient with EMR and coding systems; strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Adhere to coding guidelines and regulations; ensure accurate code selection.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across patient types to support reimbursement.
• Maintain continuing education and stay updated on coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to reconcile DRG and Medicare cases.
