Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coding professional to join the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. This full-time role requires coding proficiency across ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, with a focus on high-dollar, long-stay cases in inpatient settings.

You will collaborate with CDI and Quality teams, maintain strict compliance with coding guidelines, and participate in ongoing education to stay current with industry standards and payer requirements.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate codes.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases following official guidelines.
• Collaborate with CDI/Quality teams to ensure DRG match.
• Maintain continuing education and review CPT/Hospital guidelines.
• Participate in payer audits and clinical meetings.
• Uphold Standards of Ethical Coding and confidentiality.
