Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. The role covers inpatient coding across service lines such as cardiology, neurology, and oncology, using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS in an EMR environment.

Ideal candidates hold AHIMA or AAPC certification, an Associate's Degree in Health Information Management, and at least seven years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization and prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Adhere to coding guidelines and regulatory requirements for accurate reimbursement.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across service lines.
• Query and clarify documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with CDI and QA teams to align DRGs and Medicare cases.
