Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Operations coder to support 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle. The role requires inpatient coding expertise across ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS, with a focus on high-dollar cases and complex documentation.

Qualified candidates hold an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management and coding credentials from AAPC or AHIMA, with 7 years of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.
• Excellent communication and written skills; team oriented.
• Ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines and in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with auditing, CDI collaboration, and payer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure code selection follows official guidelines and regulations.
• Maintain high productivity and quality standards to support DNFB targets.
• Collaborate with CDI and quality teams to reconcile DRGs.
• Participate in payer audits and coding-related meetings.
• Provide guidance as a subject matter expert to the coding team.
