Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to support Enterprise Revenue Cycle in the Coding Production Operations department. The role covers a mix of inpatient community and academic coding across service lines like cardiology, neurology, and oncology.

Full-time with a standard Monday–Friday schedule. Requires AHIMA or AAPC coding certification and an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management; typically 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Certification: AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required.
• Experience: Typically 7 years inpatient coding in acute care settings.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, CPT and HCPCS.
• Code high-dollar, long-stay cases and ensure accurate DRG assignments.
• Query clinicians for clarification and stay current with coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and Medicare case reconciliations.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to coding ethics and standards.
