Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join our 10407 Revenue Cycle team. You will review complex inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring accurate coding and compliant reimbursement for cardiology, neurology, and oncology cases.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification, an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, and seven years of inpatient coding experience in acute care.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent computer and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure compliance with Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay inpatient cases across service lines.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to reconcile DRGs.
