Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Server Tech Services Engineer to resolve high-severity hardware and network issues across our global infrastructure.

You will lead complex escalations, mentor junior engineers, and drive operational excellence in the world's largest distributed platform. In this role you will collaborate with cSTS, Network Infrastructure, and Site Reliability teams, diagnose issues, and coordinate repairs and vendor interactions to ensure optimal CDN and security

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in technology or related field.
• Experience with fault diagnosis in network and server hardware technologies like drives, RAM, motherboards, and RAID.
• Expert knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 troubleshooting, OSI Model, and Unix/Linux CLI.
• Experience with data center technologies and infrastructure environment management.
• Strong analytical skills to gather information and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, third-party service providers, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Report and coordinate with the cSTS team lead during critical maintenance projects.
• Collaborate with Network Infrastructure and SRE teams to assess issues and initiate swift workflows.
• Diagnose high-level hardware and network issues across Akamai's global infrastructure.
• Facilitate server repairs by working with ISP and Field Engineers.
• Coordinate the return of Akamai equipment to warehouse or vendors.
• Monitor hardware failure patterns and report trends to Hardware Engineering and vendors.
