Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Server Tech Services Engineer to resolve high-severity hardware and network issues across our global infrastructure.

You will lead complex escalations, mentor junior engineers, and drive operational excellence to ensure optimal performance of Akamai's edge platform. You will collaborate with cSTS, Network Infrastructure, and Site Reliability teams, diagnose issues, and coordinate repairs and equipment returns across the worldwide data center

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in technology, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with fault diagnosis in network and server hardware technologies like drives, RAM, motherboards, and RAID.
• Expert knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 troubleshooting, OSI Model, and Unix/Linux CLI.
• Experience with data center technologies and infrastructure environment management.
• Strong analytical skills to systematically gather information and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to maintain solid working relationships with internal teams, third-party service providers, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Reporting and working closely with the cSTS team lead during critical maintenance projects.
• Collaborating with Network Infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineering teams to assess issues and initiate swift workflows.
• Diagnosing high-level hardware and network issues across the global infrastructure.
• Facilitating server repairs by working with ISP and Field Engineers.
• Coordinating the return of Akamai equipment back to the warehouse or vendors.
• Monitoring hardware failure patterns and proactively reporting trends to Hardware Engineering and vendors.
