SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation for utility-scale solar, BESS, and related interconnection projects.

This fully remote role owns the 10% design development, coordinates with internal teams and external consultants, and ensures design assumptions meet project scope and standards. You will review client documents, prepare single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings, guide junior designers, and support LNTP activities while aligning with IEEE, NEC, and NESC

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a nice-to-have.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of IEEE, NEC, NESC, and related standards.
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsabilidades

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects, defining design basis, assumptions, equipment needs, layouts, quantities, risks, and open items for the 10% design deliverable.
• Review client documents, technical exhibits, PPAs, interconnection agreements, and standards to identify requirements, risks, and scope.
• Serve as the primary substation design SME coordinating inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other specialty teams.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to ensure alignment of design, quantities, scope narrative, schedule, and commercial assumptions.
• Review estimates for technical completeness and identify gaps, exclusions, and open items needing clarification.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary design to estimating and BD per project stage-gate schedule.
• Participate in client meetings to review exhibits, explain design assumptions, and clarify requirements beyond SOLV standards.
• Support contractual exhibits and proposals, escalate material commitments and risks as needed.
• Communicate design decisions, open items, risks, and owner inputs to stakeholders clearly.
• Prepare and issue proposals to EORs and subcontractors, including NERC support and other disciplines as required.
• Review received proposals for scope, deliverables, exclusions, and commercial alignment.
• Align EOR/subcontractor proposals with project scope, estimates, schedule, and LNTP requirements for handoff.
