SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own preliminary substation design and engineering lifecycle for utility-scale solar, BESS, and related interconnections.

The role serves as the primary technical owner from BD kickoff through design-to-preconstruction handoff in a fully remote capacity. You will drive the 10% design, coordinate inputs across engineering clusters, assess risks, and ensure alignment of design, scope, and schedule with project objectives.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of substation design principles, protection schemes, and industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC).
• Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and contract language.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsabilidades

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assignments, developing design basis, equipment needs, layouts, quantities, risks, and open items for 10% design deliverables.
• Review client documents, PPAs, interconnection agreements, and standards to identify requirements, risks, and scope outside SOLV standards.
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for substation design, coordinating inputs from engineering consultants, procurement, estimating, scheduling, and other specialists.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design, including single-line diagrams and equipment sizing to support estimating and pricing.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to ensure alignment of design, quantities, scope narrative, and schedule.
• Prepare engineering scope, proposal information, schedule inputs, EOR coordination details, and handoff materials for Preconstruction Engineering.
• Mentor junior team members and identify training needs related to substation design, protection and controls, metering, and RFP review.
