Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer II, Substation to own the preliminary substation design for utility-scale solar, BESS, and related interconnections. This fully remote role focuses on aligning design basis, scope, schedule, and risks from kickoff through handoff, with location details discussed during interview.

You will lead the 10% design, coordinate inputs from engineers, procurement, and scheduling, and ensure design deliverables meet PPA/IA/utility requirements while supporting LNTP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or equivalent is a nice-to-have, not required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in electrical substation engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD and ETAP.

Responsibilities

• Own the first-pass preliminary substation design approach for assigned pursuits and projects.
• Review client documents, PPAs, interconnection agreements and related project information.
• Serve as the primary substation design SME for assigned projects and coordinate inputs from cross-functional teams.
• Lead development of the 10% substation design including single-line diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate with estimating and scheduling to align design, quantities, scope narrative and schedule.
• Deliver owner-reviewed preliminary substation design to estimating and BD per the schedule.
