Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding with appropriate discharge dispositions.

You’ll maintain high accuracy, participate in ongoing education, and collaborate with hospital staff. The ideal candidate holds AHIMA or AAPC credentials and has 2+ years hospital coding experience, with proficiency across same day surgery, observation, injections/infusions, ancillary and ED/E/M

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required.
• 2+ years of hospital coding or coding consulting experience.
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions, Ancillary, ED and E/M leveling.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation.
• Enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and recommendations to relevant staff.
• Maintain ≥95% coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored trainings.
• Collaborate with team and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement matters.
