Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC)
• 3+ years coding experience in hospital or coding consulting
• Proficiency with coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions; Ancillary, ED, E/M)
• Strong written and verbal communication; adept at remote work and time management

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation
• Determine discharge dispositions
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting
• Communicate coding issues for follow-up
• Maintain coding accuracy and APC assignment productivity
• Track continuing education credits for credentials
• Attend Datavant Health education meetings
• Collaborate with staff on clinical and reimbursement matters
• Maintain professional, courteous conduct and ethics
• Handle high complexity of work and decision-making
• Work with organizational policies and teamwork
