Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedures codes, ensure accurate APC assignments, and maintain high accuracy while meeting productivity standards.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 3+ years in hospital coding, and strong communication with healthcare teams. This full-time remote position offers flexible scheduling and access to ongoing education opportunities.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 3+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency with common coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions).
• Proficiency with Emergency Department, Ancillary services, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, adeptness in remote work, and exceptional time management.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation.
• Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter the coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
