Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote HIM team. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hospital coding, Interventional Radiology expertise, and AHIMA/AAPC credentials; EPIC and 3M/Solventum experience is a plus.

You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate APC and discharge coding while maintaining high accuracy and productivity. Remote work with a flexible schedule is offered.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• Interventional Radiology experience.
• 2+ years of hospital coding experience.
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong time management; remote work aptitude.
• Experience with encoding and abstracting software; HIPAA testing.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation; determine discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and improvement opportunities to relevant staff.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and APC assignment accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits and attend Datavant Health sponsored sessions.
