Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder for our fully remote team. You will review medical records, assign accurate diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure proper sequencing and discharge disposition.

The role emphasizes high accuracy and adherence to coding standards while supporting ongoing education and collaboration. Qualified candidates have AHIMA or AAPC credentials and 2+ years of hospital coding experience, with proficiency in relevant specialties and coding software.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials as required.
• 2+ years hospital or coding consultant experience.
• Proficiency in same day surgery, observation, injections/infusions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; remote work capable.
• Experience with coding software and HIPAA testing.

Responsibilities

• Review records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation; assign discharge disposition.
• Abstract data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits for credentials.
• Communicate coding issues to relevant personnel.
