Job summary

Pearson is hiring remote scorers to evaluate responses from teacher candidates in various languages. Starting at $17.50 per hour, roles require a bachelor’s degree (or higher) and current teaching certification or college-level credentials in a language area; native speakers with degrees are also eligible.

Training precedes scoring with remote sessions available. Scoring occurs during weekdays with sessions two to three times annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher; teaching certification in the language and active teaching in the last three years (or substitute teaching) or educators from colleges with content-relevant degree.
• Native or fluent speaker with a college degree in the language and related field.
• Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse); ability to sit for extended periods; maintain confidentiality; eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards; participate in discussions; engage with scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Identify and discuss bias types and strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test.
