Job summary

Pearson is hiring freelance scorers to evaluate responses from teacher candidates in multiple languages. Remote work is available with a starting rate of $17.50 per hour. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree (or higher) and a current teaching certification in the target language, with recent teaching experience.

Ideal applicants are native or fluent speakers who also hold a college degree and can work independently while meeting strict scoring quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Current teaching certification in the language applied for and have taught in schools within the last three years.
• Educators from colleges with a content-relevant degree or who have advised in a content-relevant field within the last three years.
• Native or fluent speaker with a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias and implement strategies to reduce biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements and pass a qualifying test before scoring.
