Job summary

Pearson is seeking remote scorers to evaluate responses from teacher candidates in multiple languages. A bachelor’s degree and current language teaching certification are required, with active or recent teaching experience being preferred.

Qualifying candidates may work remotely with sessions 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., two to three times per year, earning starting at $17.50 per hour. Must be eligible to work in the United States and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or higher and a current teaching certification in the language you are applying for.
• Or educators with a degree in a content-relevant field and teaching/advising in that field within the last three years.
• Or native or fluent speaker with a college degree.
• Active or recently retired practitioners may be eligible to score.
• Basic computer skills and ability to sit for extended periods.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Illinois and New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias and apply strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
