Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join our Appeals & Denials Department at Baptist Metro Square in Jacksonville, FL.

The coder will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts in accordance with state and federal requirements and support CPT-4 coding on observation accounts. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of acute care coding experience, RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials, and proficiency with encoder and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in acute care setting required.
• 3-5 years coding knowledge required.
• 3-5 years experience working in an acute care setting required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Be knowledgeable of CPT coding classification, edit resolution and assigning CPT-4 codes on Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission.
• Maintain Coding A/R goals; process 100% of discharged accounts daily.
• Collaborate with Management, CDI and HIM; provide mentorship and perform auditing/training.
