Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in an acute care setting
• 3–5 years coding knowledge
• CCS or RHIT/RHIA certification required

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts
• Assign CPT-4 codes for observation accounts when applicable
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission
• Maintain Coding A/R goals and address ACHA, DNFB, post-bill edits and denials
• Advise and coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on coding documentation
• Mentor Coders, provide auditing and training support
