Job summary

Baptist Health seeks a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join the Appeals & Denials Department at Baptist Metro Square. The role focuses on correctly identifying and assigning diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient accounts in compliance with state and federal requirements.

Requirements include RHIT or RHIA or CCS certification and 3–5 years of coding experience, with CPT coding proficiency and strong critical thinking, communication, and independent work skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required
• RHIT - AHIMA or RHIA - AHIMA or CCS - AHIMA Required
• 3-5 Years Coding Knowledge Required

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Apply CPT coding for Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission.
• Maintain 100% accuracy on discharged accounts to meet coding A/R goals.
• Work with ACHA, DNFB and Post Bill Error reports and denials as applicable.
• Provide mentorship and auditing/training support to Coders, CDI and HIM staff.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
