Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Educator/Trainer to support PB Coding and Coding Integrity teams. The role focuses on delivering in-person and virtual education to coders and clinicians, developing materials, and tracking learning outcomes.

Required are AHIMA or AAPC certifications, and 5 years of medical coding experience. This is a fully remote, full-time position with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Expert knowledge in principles of adult learning concepts and capable of planning, coordinating, facilitating coding educational programs.
• Highly proficient at incorporating adult learning principles, online and in person teaching methods to maximize learning and the application of that learning.
• Advanced and highly developed computer skills including experience in using Microsoft Office or similar products, email and electronic calendars.
• Superior organization, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and oral engaging presentation skills. Ability to comfortably speak to small/large groups, network, and build effective relationships.
• Demonstrated adaptability/flexibility and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment and decision making.
• Ability to work in multiple work environments (ie virtual, office, clinic/hospital, other).
• Must have functional speech, hearing, and senses to allow effective communication.
• Must be able to continuously concentrate.
• May require travel and may be exposed to road and weather hazards.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Coding Leadership, IT and Revenue Cycle leadership.
• Present coding education for initial training and continuing education to coders and clinicians.
• Identify educational needs and report trends to ensure opportunities are met.
• Schedule education using Learning Connection, ATMS, Skype or Teams.
• Develop and maintain web-based coding education programs and track progress.
• Create education programs with defined objectives and evaluate course content.
