Job summary

UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator III to schedule and register patients for outpatient visits, verify eligibility, and obtain pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications in collaboration with physician offices and business office departments.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to travel between campus locations; on-site schedule is Monday–Thursday 9:30–6:00 and Friday 9:30–5:00, non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year of clerical experience in a medical office setting.
• Licensure: None.
• Required Skills: Knowledge of basic medical terminology; clear verbal and written communication; excellent customer service; insurance knowledge; ability to understand insurance cards and benefits; professional and empathetic public interaction.
• Preferred Skills: Background in government/state patient assistance programs; working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding; strong computer skills; proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• S schedules and registers patients for outpatient clinic visits, ensuring accurate demographic and appointment details.
• Verifies eligibility and obtains pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications in collaboration with physician offices, utilization review, and business office departments.
