Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia (UVA Health) is seeking a Patient Services Coord III to schedule and register patients in the outpatient clinic, verify eligibility, and coordinate pre-authorizations and referrals with physician offices and related departments.

This full-time, dayshift role requires strong medical terminology knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of clerical experience in medical office setting required.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and possess a high degree of excellent customer service skills.
• Background of insurance knowledge is required for certain tasks assigned.
• Background/knowledge of government/state and patient assistance programs is preferred.
• Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
• Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic and verifies eligibility.
• Obtains pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications with physician offices and related departments.
• Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.
